What Our Members Say about First Congregational UCC

CROP14BavlnkaPalmSunday2015

Each year, our members and friends write down the ways in which they’ve been “blessed” by being part of the First Congregational UCC community.  Here’s just a sampling of the 2017 thoughts.  Maybe you’ll find something that you’d like to ring true for YOU as a member of a church!

BLESSING BOWL 2017

I am blessed and amazed by how many members of this congregation are quick to volunteer to help [spouse’s name] up or down stairs.

Church for me is a pause—a blessed pause –in a hectic life, my own choosing, I admit!  It is a time for my children to lean into me in quiet, peace and comfort.

This church reminds me that we are called to speak the truth of kindness and compassion.  We are needed to be a part of the ongoing work of Jesus in the world.  My best resolutions to do better are strengthened when I’m part of a larger group.  We encourage each other to portray what active and acting love looks like.  Many of us came from other religious backgrounds and some from no previous church experience.  But here we find a starting place, each going forward, blessed so we may be a blessing.

It’s good to know that we can come to this place to share our cares and joys, encourage one another in challenging times—to say, “I’m not alone; you’re not alone.”

King and Shepherd_9926I am very grateful for all of the dear friends I have in this church (my church family). During my recent eye infection I received calls and cards which gave me a great deal of comfort.  I’m also very thankful for the rides to choir and Women’s Fellowship.  Being a member of this church brings me love, friendship and helps with the days I am feeling kind of lonely.

First Congregational is simultaneously a hub of welcome and shalom to which so many are drawn and also the center from which lovingkindness radiates to the community and world.

I feel blessed to be able to share this sacred space with others who love the teachings of Jesus.

The spirit of love is a blessing freely given and freely accepted in our church.  In the small and the great we offer to share our many gifts and blessings with hope of creating a just and peaceful world for all.

I am blessed to be a part of such a welcoming church community; members who are witnesses to Christ in their daily lives.

This cDSC00180hurch continues to bless me in so many ways. I am grateful for all the quiet and even completely unknown helpers in our midst.  Thank you, God, for your humble servants here and all around the world.

Church keeps me more aware and in communion with God. The church is open to all, and I always feel welcome.

I am grateful and feel blessed to be a part of this church community because here I find friendship and caring.  I continue to learn, becoming more educated in my Christianity.  I feel useful even when I contribute in a small way through funds, preparing/sharing food, teaching and sharing ideas, or donating to our many mission efforts.  I’m thankful to be able to do so in this time and place.

I am blessed to be part of this faith community in which the life of Christ is lived in our commitment to a Just Peace church.  I’m committed to supporting this as a member of this church.
